Cheaper web hosting

I noticed that web companies are offering some amazing new deals. But only to new customers. This news post explains how I managed with some work to get hold of that cost saving, and improved server performance.

I recently had a massive victory. I noticed that web companies are offering some amazing new deals. But only to new customers. So, I thought. Yes they only give new space, new servers to new people. I’ve been with mine for 5 years. Yet they don’t offer a free migration to the new servers!!  Bad.

So, I decided to beat them at that game.

I had 2 web hosting companies. The total bill came to £170 for a year’s hosting and access to up to 11 websites, 10 on one and 1 on the other. I am running about 5 websites and doing some testing on them..

So, I reduced that requirement down to 5. And bit the bullet, zip’d it all up and transferred it across to the new space, one month before renewal in December 2017.

Well the saving..... A MASSIVE £140 pa.  And I get a much faster server, running later versions, Windows Server 2016 and SQL Server 2016 not 2012 versions.

The websites are performing really well.  Try them, www.newtowndirectory.co.uk   and www.newtowncommunity.co.uk  and www.normalconsultancy.co.uk

All 3 CMS websites with a database, so you can login and easily update them.

I’ve learned a lot (as usual) by forcing myself to make the change.

So I’m all set up for 2018 for £43 per annum hosting (£86 payable biennially) to one hosting company for 5 websites and 5 databases and 5GB of hosting space.

BARGAIN !!!
